Announcement Bar

The thin strip that sits above the header on every page — the “Free shipping on orders over $50” line. It’s always dark green with white text, and it’s always centred.

Each message is an Announcement block. Add one and it simply sits there. Add two or more and the bar turns into a carousel that cycles between them.

The bar lives in the header section group, so it’s edited once and applies to the whole site — you can’t set a different announcement on a single page.

Setting What it does
Section ID Optional anchor for the strip. Rarely needed here.
Auto rotate announcements Has no effect. See the caution below — rotation is always on for phones and always off above tablet, regardless of this box.
Change every Has no effect. The interval is fixed at 5 seconds.
Separator line Has no effect.
Social media icons Has no effect.
Country/region selector Has no effect.
Language selector Has no effect.

Announcement — up to 12.

Setting What it does
Text The message. Rich text, though the bar is one line so keep it to a sentence. Default “Welcome to our store”.
Link Makes the whole message clickable and adds an arrow after it. Leave empty for a message that isn’t a link.
Link text Appended to the end of Text as part of the same sentence.

The header group, above the header on every page of the site. It ships with a single announcement in place.

  • One announcement is usually the right answer. The rotation is only automatic on phones; on desktop a visitor has to notice the arrows and click them, and most won’t. A second message is effectively unseen by desktop visitors.
  • If you do use several, make each one work alone. Nobody reads all of them. Don’t write messages that build on each other.
  • Keep it to about eight words. The strip is one line on a phone. Longer text wraps and makes the bar taller, which pushes the whole page down.
  • Always add a Link when the message asks for an action. “Free shipping over $50” is fine as plain text. “Shop the sale” without a link is a dead end.
  • Take the message down when it expires. A shipping promotion that ended last month is worse than no bar at all. Delete the block or hide the section.
  • Don’t put legal or required information here. The bar is small, low contrast against a busy page, and on mobile it disappears after five seconds. Disclaimers belong in the footer.
