Press Logo

A single publication logo. Used by the Press Bar section — add one block per publication.

The logo scales to the width set on the parent section, with its height following the image’s own shape, so a row of differently-shaped marks reads evenly. Nothing is ever cropped.

Settings

Setting	What it does
Logo	The publication’s logo. A transparent PNG or an SVG works best.
Publication name	The name of the publication. Used as the alt text when none is set below, and shown as a placeholder in the editor before you’ve chosen a logo.
Alt text	What a screen reader announces. Falls back to the alt text set on the image in your media library, and then to the publication name.
Hide on mobile	Hides this logo on smaller screens while keeping it on desktop. It still shows in the theme editor, so you can always select it and turn it back on.
Link	Optional. Links the logo to the article or to the publication.
Link title	Optional. Describes the destination when it differs from the logo itself — the headline of a specific article, say. Only appears once a Link is set.

Tips

A press logo needs real alt text

These logos aren’t decorative — each one names a publication that featured the brand, and that’s the whole point of the bar. Someone using a screen reader should hear “The Washington Post”, not nothing.

Filling in Publication name covers this on its own, so the simplest approach is to always fill it in. Use Alt text only when you want to say something different from the plain name.

Link to the article, not the homepage

If there’s a specific piece of coverage, link straight to it — that’s what makes the bar a citation rather than a logo wall. Add the headline as the Link title so the destination is described properly.

If there’s no article to point at, leave the link empty. An unlinked logo is better than one that dumps someone on a publication’s homepage.

Use “Hide on mobile” to thin the row

The mobile layout is a centred wrap, and five logos don’t sit as neatly in it as they do in the desktop row. Hiding one leaves a tidy two-by-two.

Reach for it only when the row is genuinely crowded — every hidden logo is a trust signal a phone visitor doesn’t see, and most of your traffic is on a phone.

Sizing lives on the section

There’s no width or height here on purpose. All the logos are sized together by Logo width on the Press Bar, which is what keeps them consistent. If one logo looks wrong next to the others, the cause is nearly always whitespace baked into the image file — crop it and re-upload.
