Column
A single column in a Multi-column section. It has no appearance of its own: it sets how wide the column is and how its content sits, then shows whatever blocks you nest inside it.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Width | How wide this column is, out of 12. Two columns of 6 make an even split; 8 + 4 makes a two-thirds / one-third split. Columns adding up to more than 12 wrap onto the next row. 1–12, default 6. |
| Content alignment | Whether the content inside lines up Left (default), Center or Right. Affects both the text and the blocks themselves. |
| Vertical alignment | Where this column’s content sits when it’s shorter than the tallest column in the row — Top (default), Center or Bottom. |
| Space between items | Vertical space between the blocks inside this column. 0–4rem in 0.5 steps, default 1.5rem. |
| Block ID | Optional anchor ID, for linking directly to this column. |
Blocks it accepts
Section titled “Blocks it accepts”Add any number of these inside a column, in any order:
- Title
- Rich text
- Image
- Buttons
- List
- Contact form
- App blocks — including Shopify Forms
- Vertical alignment needs uneven columns to do anything. If every column in the row is the same height, all three options look identical.
- Reach for Space between items rather than empty blocks. Adding a blank Rich text block to create a gap works until someone edits it. The spacing setting is the reliable way.
- Left alignment is usually right for text. Centred body copy is hard to read at more than a couple of lines. Centre headings if the design calls for it, but leave paragraphs left.
