Product Stock Message

The centred line under the Add to Cart button — In Stock. Ships in 2-5 business days.” — which swaps to your out-of-stock copy when the selected variant is unavailable.

You write both messages once; the theme picks the right one and keeps it correct as the customer changes pack size or variant.

This block is rendered automatically inside Product Form Submit. You don’t add it to Product Main yourself, and you won’t find it in the “add block” list on the product template.

To edit the copy, open the Product Form Submit block in the customizer — the stock message appears as a nested block beneath it.

Setting What it does
In stock message Rich text shown when the selected variant is available. Defaults to “In Stock. Ships in 2-5 business days.” Leave empty to show nothing when in stock.
Out of stock message Rich text shown when the selected variant is unavailable. Defaults to “Out of Stock. Expected back in stock soon.” Leave empty to show nothing when out of stock.

Both are rich text, so you can bold part of the line. The defaults bold the first two words and leave the rest plain, which is the pattern to follow.

The message reflects the currently selected variant. On a product where the 1 Pack is in stock and the 3 Pack is sold out, the line changes as the customer clicks between the pack cards — it does not describe the product as a whole.

This happens instantly in the browser, with no page reload.

  • Keep it to one line. It sits in a narrow column directly under the button; two sentences push the page around and compete with the button for attention.
  • Don’t promise a date. “Ships in 2-5 business days” ages well. “Ships before Christmas” doesn’t, and this copy is set once for every product using the template.
  • Give out-of-stock customers somewhere to go. “Expected back in stock soon” is better than nothing, but a sentence pointing to an alternative product is better still — the Add to Cart button above it is disabled, so this line is the only thing they can act on.
  • Preview both states. Select a sold-out variant in the customizer to check the out-of-stock copy. It’s the message customers are most likely to see at a bad moment and the one least likely to get proofread.
